Compare the2024 Jeep WranglerVS 2023 Ford Bronco

For enhanced safety, the front seat shoulder belts of the Jeep Wrangler are height-adjustable to accommodate a wide variety of driver and passenger heights. A better fit can prevent injuries and the increased comfort also encourages passengers to buckle up. The Ford Bronco doesn’t offer height-adjustable seat belts.

Both the Wrangler and the Bronco have standard driver and passenger frontal airbags, front side-impact airbags, side-impact head airbags, front and rear seatbelt pretensioners, plastic fuel tanks, four-wheel antilock brakes, four-wheel drive, traction control, electronic stability systems to prevent skidding, rearview cameras, available crash mitigating brakes, daytime running lights, blind spot warning systems, rear parking sensors and rear cross-path warning.

Jeep pays for scheduled maintenance on the Wrangler for 2 years and unlimited miles. Jeep will pay for oil changes, tire rotations, air filter replacements, brake fluid replacement, inspections, and any other required maintenance (up to 2 visits). Ford doesn’t pay scheduled maintenance for the Bronco.

The Wrangler has a solid front axle with a floating power axle for durability that the Bronco’s independent front suspension and exposed front driveshafts don’t offer.

J.D. Power and Associates’ 2023 Initial Quality Study of new car owners surveyed provide the statistics that show that Jeep vehicles are better in initial quality than Ford vehicles. J.D. Power ranks Jeep above average in initial quality. With 10 more problems per 100 vehicles, Ford is rated below average.

The Wrangler has more powerful engines than the Bronco:

The Wrangler 4xe can travel with zero emissions for 21 miles. The Bronco can’t move without running its internal combustion engine.

An engine control system that can shut down some of the engine’s cylinders helps improve the Wrangler Rubicon 392’s fuel efficiency. The Bronco doesn’t offer a system that can shut down part of the engine.

Regenerative brakes improve the Wrangler 2.0 Turbo/4xe’s fuel efficiency by converting inertia back into energy instead of wasting it. The Bronco doesn’t offer a regenerative braking system.

The Wrangler 4xe has a standard locking fuel door with a power remote release convenient to the driver. The fuel filler door is not lockable on the Bronco. A locking fuel door helps prevent fuel theft and vandalism, such as sugar in the tank.

The Wrangler Rubicon 392’s launch control uses engine electronics to hold engine RPM’s precisely in order to provide the most stable and rapid acceleration possible, using all of the available traction. The Bronco doesn’t offer launch control.

For better stopping power the Wrangler’s standard brake rotors are larger than those on the Bronco:

The Wrangler High Altitude/4xe’s tires provide better handling because they have a lower 55 series profile (height to width ratio) that provides a stiffer sidewall than the Bronco’s 70 series tires.

For better ride, handling and brake cooling the Wrangler has standard 17-inch wheels. Smaller 16-inch wheels are standard on the Bronco. The Wrangler High Altitude/4xe’s 20-inch wheels are larger than the 18-inch wheels on the Bronco Outer Banks.

The Wrangler has a standard easy tire fill system. When inflating the tires, the vehicle’s integrated tire pressure sensors keep track of the pressure as the tires fill and tell the driver when the tires are inflated to the proper pressure. The Bronco doesn’t offer vehicle monitored tire inflation.

The Wrangler has standard front and rear stabilizer bars, which help keep the Wrangler flat and controlled during cornering. The Bronco’s suspension doesn’t offer a rear stabilizer bar.

For a smoother ride and more stable handling, the Wrangler 4-door’s wheelbase is 2.3 inches longer than on the Bronco 4-Door (118.4 inches vs. 116.1 inches).

The Wrangler’s front to rear weight distribution is more even (50.1% to 49.9%) than the Bronco’s (54.3% to 45.7%). This gives the Wrangler more stable handling and braking.

For greater off-road capability the Wrangler 2-door has a 1.4 inches greater minimum ground clearance than the Bronco 4-Door (9.7 vs. 8.3 inches), allowing the Wrangler to travel over rougher terrain without being stopped or damaged.

The Jeep Wrangler may be more efficient, handle and accelerate better because it weighs about 300 to 450 pounds less than the Ford Bronco.

The Wrangler is shorter than the Bronco, making the Wrangler easier to handle, maneuver and park in tight spaces:

The Wrangler 4-door has 2 inches more rear legroom and 1.9 inches more rear hip room than the Bronco 4-Door.

The Wrangler Convertible Sport Utility has .5 inches more rear headroom, 1.7 inches more rear hip room and 5.9 inches more rear shoulder room than the Bronco 2-Door.

A low lift-over cargo hatch design makes loading and unloading the Wrangler easier. The Wrangler’s cargo hatch lift-over height is 29.7 inches, while the Bronco’s liftover is 31 inches.

Maximum trailer towing in the Ford Bronco is limited to 4500 pounds. The Wrangler 4-door offers up to a 5000 lbs. towing capacity.

The Wrangler has a higher standard payload capacity than the Bronco (1218 vs. 1100 lbs.).

The Wrangler’s speed-sensitive wipers speed up when the vehicle does, so that the driver doesn’t have to continually adjust the speed of the wipers. The Bronco’s manually variable intermittent wipers have to be constantly adjusted.

To improve rear visibility by keeping the rear window clear, the Wrangler has a standard rear fixed intermittent wiper with a full on position. The rear wiper standard on the Bronco only has an intermittent setting, so in a hard rain visibility isn’t as good.

The Wrangler’s optional power mirror controls are mounted on the door for easy access. The Bronco’s power mirror controls are on the center console where they can’t be seen without the driver completely removing his eyes from the road.

The Wrangler 4-door offers an optional center folding armrest for the rear passengers. A center armrest helps make rear passengers more comfortable and it can provide a boundary between children. The Bronco doesn’t offer a rear seat center armrest.

Both the Wrangler and the Bronco offer rear vents. For greater rear passenger comfort, the Wrangler offers optional rear air conditioning vents to keep rear occupants cool in summer or warm in winter. The Bronco doesn’t offer rear air conditioning vents, only heat vents.

Motor Trend selected the Wrangler as their 2019 Sport Utility of the Year. The Bronco has never been chosen.
